UEFers Admire and Explore the Cultural Values Behind Traditional Korean Costumes

Hanbok – The Traditional Korean Costume, a Keeper of Deep Cultural and Historical Values. Each color and design on the Hanbok tells a unique story about the people and country of Korea, blending artistic beauty with profound life philosophy. This has made Hanbok a symbol of Korean culture, attracting the attention of all generations, especially the youth.



NOVEMBER 26, the Korean Language Department, Faculty of Languages and International Cultures, hosted an exciting journey of discovery with the talk show "The Story of Hanbok" and the "Hanbok Fashion Show." The event opened a unique cultural exchange space, helping students better understand the outer beauty of Hanbok and the profound spiritual values it represents.
 






The event rich in the colors of Korean culture
 
The event was attended by Ms. Kim Hae Won, Director and Head Designer of the Hanbok brand Hwa Geum Dan (Korea); Mr. Jung Ki Beom, Representative of the Chungnam Provincial Cultural Heritage Board (Korea); Ms. Le Thi Thanh Huyen, Representative Director of Sonyo Hanbok; and singer YoungJu.
On the UEF side, there were Mr. Do Quoc Anh, Vice Chairman, Board of Directors ; Dr. Do Huu Nguyen Loc, Vice President, Dr. Ly Thien Trang, Director of Quality Assurance and Accreditation; and Ms. Pham Thi Thuy Linh, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Languages and International Cultures, Head of the Korean Language Department.
Speaking about the event, Mr. Đỗ Quốc Anh emphasized the significance of the program in strengthening cultural ties between the two countries. He also mentioned the influence of Korean culture on young Vietnamese people, from fashion and food to music and cinema, affirming that the influx of Korean culture has made a significant impact on the daily lives of the younger generation in Vietnam today.

During the talkshow, Mr. Jung Ki Beom shared fascinating stories about Hanbok. According to him, Hanbok is not merely a traditional costume, but a distinctive symbol of Korean culture. With its refined beauty and colors carrying profound meanings, each Hanbok represents not only the spirit and personality of the wearer but also reflects the theory of Yin-Yang and the Five Elements in East Asian culture. The harmony of the five basic colors creates an artistic beauty, telling stories about the lasting traditional values of the Korean people.

Following that, the Hanbok Fashion Show brought a colorful and emotional atmosphere. The harmonious designs, blending traditional and modern elements, were showcased by UEFers and special guests. Among them, the contestants of Miss UEF 2024 made a symbolic highlight, further celebrating the beauty of Hanbok.

The event helped UEFers broaden their understanding of Korean culture, demonstrating the international spirit and diversity in UEF's educational activities. Through this, the university continues to affirm its pioneering role in offering unique learning experiences, helping students connect with global cultural values.
