UEFers expands their career pathway and inquire experiences from Chinese businesses

DECEMBER 30, amidst the context of global integration, equipping professional knowledge and language skills became the key to better meet career opportunities. In order to create an interconnecting environment and development orientation for UEFers from the Chinese Language Department and who are passionate about this language, The Chinese Language Department - Faculty of Languages and International Cultures organized the “Chinese Businesses Meeting” talkshow.
The talkshow opened up chances for the students to expose themselves to practical recruitment information from top-tier businesses, assist them in shaping their career path, and inquire essential skills to conquer the labor market during the context of international integration.

The talkshow organized on the morning of December 30 was joined by numerous UEFers and Business Representatives

Joined the program were Mr. Miao Ren Lai - Chairman of the Board of Van Su Loi Manufacturing - Trading Company Limited; Mr. Zhang Shou Jiang - Factory Director of Aqua Vietnam Co., Ltd; Assist. Prof. Liu Yong - lecturer of Academy of Information Technology, Qingdao Technology University; Mr. Zhang Lin - General Director of Bank of China, HCMC Branch; Mr. Li Jin - Head of Human Resources Department of Continental Textile Co., Ltd; Mr. Sun Cheng Yue - General Director of Portever Shipping Vietnam Co., Ltd; Mr. Royce Kim - Deputy General Director of Portever Shipping Vietnam Co., Ltd; Mrs. Xu Xi - Vice President of Guangdong Business Federation. 

On behalf of UEF were Dr, Nhan Cam Tri - UEF Vice President; Dr. Tang My Sang - Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Finance and Accounting; Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan - Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Languages and International Cultures, Director of the Chinese Language Department; Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Loan - Deputy Director of Center of Corporate Partnerships; Mr. Tran Thanh Huy - Deputy Director of the Center of Corporate Partnerships.

During his sharing about the talkshow, Dr. Nhan Cam Tri emphasized the talkshow’s meaning in connecting UEFers with businesses, and paved the way for practical studying and professional skills developing opportunities. Additionally, he affirmed the talkshow helps UEFers better understand the recruitment standards, fueling the motivation to nurture their capabilities, ready to adapt to the multicultural working environment, and at the same time serves as an important platform for students to expand their relationship network and grasp potential job opportunities in the future.

The talkshow centered around real-world topics such as the competitive advantages of learning Chinese, wages, job opportunities, recruitment criteria,... The sharing from the speakers brought a comprehensive picture, helping UEFers clearly orient their personal development path in an international integration environment. Followed the sharings above, Mr. Miao Ren Lai highlighted that Chinese fluency is a standout advantage for UEEFers of the Chinese Language Department. However, he expressed that language skill is an assisting tool in creating practical competitive values, and further professional knowledge in specific fields need to be nurtured for further adaptation and extended career opportunities.

Agreed with Mr. Miao’s perspective, Mr. Zhang Shou Jiang suggested that students should acquire supporting knowledge and skills, with teamwork playing an important factor helping the candidate to better integrate with the business environment. He also suggested some fields that UEFers should consider tutoring such as engineering, accounting, information technology,...

About recruitment criteria, Mr. Zhang Lin emphasized the need for logical thinking, standardization and the need to work accurately. Especially, proficient office computer skills is an essential factor for the majority of the job required report and data processing. He also advised UEFers to make use of the probationary period to learn, gain experience and hone professional skills.

Meanwhile, Mr. Li Jin, Mr. Sun Cheng Yue and Mrs. Xu Xi stressed on the importance of a positive working attitude. According to the guests, job preference, progressive spirit and good communication skills will help candidates leave a good impression for the employers. Additionally, the ability to use Chinese, office computer skills and logical thinking are also indispensable factors to meet practical recruitment standards. From the sharings above, UEFers had a better awareness of the needs of the labor market and the importance of nurturing both professional and soft skills.

Before ending the talkshow, UEFers demonstrated their ability to use Chinese buy asking many questions in Chinese and received enthusiastic answers from the business representatives.
