Aim to create a dynamic, helpful exchange area for UEFers in discovering culture, tourism of English-speaking countries, promoting learning spirit and foreign language training, The Faculty of English will organize the English-speaking countries Cultural Day - "Diversity in the English-Speaking World" in the upcoming March 14.
The event promises to bring real-world experiences, create favorable comprehensive development conditions for UEFers in the context of international integration, while at the same time raise the awareness of cultural diversity and exquisite value of each country around the world.
Cultural Kaleidoscope Competition
If you are passionate about discovering global cultures and wish to try your best in a creative showcase, Cultural Kaleidoscope will be a brilliant opportunity for you! The Qualifiers took place on February 17, and the Final Round is expected to take place on March 14. This competition is exclusive for UEFers competing as teams of two. Particularly:
- Qualifiers: From February 17 till March 5 (Results announced on March 6), each team makes an introduction video of their favorite English-speaking countries with a duration of less than three minutes. The presentation language can be either in Vietnamese or English (English speaking clips will receive bonus points) and are encouraged to use visual effects and music to enhance its liveliness. At the end of the qualifiers, the 5 teams with the highest scores will advance to the finals.
- Finale: will be held on March 14 with total three competition rounds:
• Session 1: “GEAR UP”
+ Each team will choose a folder of questions to answer (5 folders in total).
+ Each folder contains five questions with the time span of 90 seconds per team.
+ Each correct answer receives ten points, no points for each incorrect answer.
• Session 2: “SPEED UP”
+ There will be ten questions in various forms (photos, videos, music,...)
+ The teams will together answer each question.
+ Each correct answer receives ten points, no point for each incorrect answer.
+ Each team has twenty seconds to think and write their answers on the board.
• Session 3: “FINISH UP”
+ Each team will have a maximum five minutes to perform the dramatization part, including: Artistic performance, Presentation, Fashion show,...
+ Topic: highlight the unique heritage, especially the tourism industry of countries speaking English as their official language (currently 80 countries).
Notice: The topics for the dramatization contest must not be the same, and the Top 5 final teams will have a meeting (expected to be held on Friday, March 7) for practice, pick the topics and receive instructions.
Prizes:
- 1 First prize including cash worth 1,500,000 VND and a UEF Certificate.
- 1 Second prize including cash worth 1,000,000 VND and a UEF Certificate.
- 3 Third prizes including cash worth 500,000 VND and UEF Certificates.
- 1 Best dramatization award including cash worth 500,000 VND.

English Culture Day 3.0
Participating in the English Culture Day 3.0 with the theme "Diversity in the English-Speaking World" will be held on March 14, UEFers will immerse in the multicolor cultural environment with multiple exciting activities, from exhibition stalls, “Cultural Showcase Booths: decorating competition, "Crafting English Heritage" exhibition to the "Voices of English-Speaking Nations" seminar, The competitions of Talent Fest or Ring The Golden Bell. In particular:
Exhibition booths showcasing the cultures and cuisines
The exhibition area will provide participants a multicolor discovery about cultures, cuisines and knowledge. With the honorary participation of sponsors, Faculty Union - English Department Union, clubs under the Faculty of English Language and classes, each stall will showcase the unique characteristics of English-Speaking countries through various unique souvenirs, delicious dishes, engaging cultural activities and informative academic content.
The “Cultural Showcase Booths" booths decorating competition
Coming to “Cultural Showcase Booths”, the various booths from FELers are required to showcase the unique cultural characteristic of each country in the English-Speaking countries community (As an official language). In addition, each must conduct special substitute activities. At the competition, the judges will give scores based on the decoration and giving awards on March 14.
Students are free to be creative with various competitions at the festival
Oriented towards creating a showcase for exquisite artistic products, integrated between creativity and historic values, where students showcase their perspective on the cultural heritage of English speaking countries. The exhibiting products, including posters or models, are created in groups of one to five students.
In the Poster format, teams are allowed to draw by hand or use graphics with images, creative decorations, and present information on the practices, traditions, distinctive festivals, cuisines, art, musics,... of one or many English-speaking countries (The UK, The USA, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, The Philippines, India, Zimbabwe, Singapore, Pakistan, Malta, Malaysia, South Africa,...).
For the Model format, the products must be made with paper, plastic, or recycling materials,... encouraged the implementation of characteristics architectural simulations (Historic buildings, landmarks of an English-speaking country) or simulative model of cultural events, traditional dishes with the appropriate size and suitable for exhibition.
- Product submission deadline: 3:00 P.M March 12.
- Judging time: 12:30 - 13:00 March 14.

Seminar: Voices of English-Speaking Nations
A chance for direct engagement with international guests and experts, discovering the dynamic shades in using English in different countries. Talent Fest Competition
A competition welcomes all UEFers who enjoy singing, dancing, and showcasing traditional costumes of English-Speaking Countries. All can register individually or as a team form two to five members, The registration deadline is March 9.
