UEFErs broadened their view on opportunities, challenges and ethical factor on applying AI in Fintech

MARCH 1, The Faculty of Accounting and Finance in collaboration with Fintech Club UEF successfully organized the workshop with the theme “AI ethical factors in Fintech: Opportunities and User Data protection legal rights”. The workshop provided Fintech students with various professional knowledge in AI, while at the same time paved the way for fundamental perspective about technology ethics as well as related legal rights.

AI implementation in Fintech became the essential trend of the Finance Industry

The workshop was led by Prof. Tran Vu Ha Minh - Founder & CEO Humane-AI Asisa AI Governance Expert in collaboration with Prof. Duong Thi Vien An - Head of the Department of Financial Technology.

According to the speaker, AI is dramatically changing the way the Financial Industry operates. For example, AI helped assess the creditworthiness of customers based on financial data, thereby enabling credit scoring. Or. AI can assist financial investment through portfolio consultancy, predict market trends and automating transactions. In addition, AI is also applied to detect anomalies in transactions, enhance security levels, and combat financial fraud… 

Prof. Tran Vu Ha Minh emphasized that the implementation of AI in the financial industry offers various advantages but also causes serious ethical and legal issues. During the workshop, the speaker and UEFers together excitingly discuss various aspects such as: transparency and fairness of AI in credit and investment approvals; risk of personal data security when AI collects and analyzes user’s financial information; and the legal responsibility of businesses when deploying AI in financial products. 

 

The sharings from the speaker provided the UEFers a better understanding of the increasingly fundamental role of AI in the Fintech Field 

 
During the workshop, the speaker also provided the information on current regulations about AI and Fintech domestically and internationally, offering the students a more practical view of the legal framework of this industry.   
To better prepare for the future career pathway, MSc. Tran Vu Ha Minh has given out the latest development trend of AI in Fintech and things students need to pay attention to. They need to understand AI’s impact on personal and business financial rights, alongside enhancing the skill of analyzing data and check on the transparency of AI. Especially follow the ethics and law when applying AI in the Financial Field.
