UEFers discover semiconductor economics job opportunities in Vietnam

DECEMBER 19, considered as the “backbone” of digital economics, semiconductor economics played a crucial role and a motivation for promotion of multiple global industries. Understanding the trend and potential of the field, the Faculty of Economics in collaboration with the IBC club organized the FOE Career Talk with the theme :”Semiconductor economics: 2045 motivation - Job opportunities in Vietnam”

The Career Talk attracted a large number of UEFers

On behalf of the Faculty of Economics were Ms. Tang My Ha - Deputy Director, Head of Digital Economics Department; Ms. Do Thu Ha - Deputy Director, Head of Logistics and Supply Chain Management  Department; Mr. Nguyen Le Dong Xuan - Deputy Director, Head of International Business Department; Mr. Pham Quoc Hai - Head of International Economics Department; Mr. Tran Hoang Nam - Head of Real Estate Department. 

The invited guests were Mr. Vu Trong Khang - Director of HCMC Commercial Arbitration Center, Director of ARI; Mr. Nguyen Van Tam - Director of Materials and Life Sciences Lab, Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology; Mr. Duong Nguyen Han - Manager of Pioneer Furniture CO., LTD; Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Quynh Vinh - Manager of CVC VSMCHome Center and Ms. Van Thi Minh Hoa - Secretary General of Ho Chi Minh city Semiconductor Industry Association (HSIA).

At the opening remarks, Mr. Nguyen Huynh Duc Khoa guided UEFers in discovering the crucial role of semiconductor industry to Vietnamese Economics, especially during the context of the country aiming to become a high-income country in 2045 and achieved Netzero in the beginning of 2050. 

With the specialized knowledge, the speaker briefly explained the definition of digital economics and green economics, and clarified the importance of the semiconductor chip - “the brain” of all advanced digital tools. Through a special “expedition” inside of a chip, Mr. Nguyen Huynh Duc Khoa helps UEFers in better understanding the complex layers and diverse application of chips in the 4.0 life. It is known that a single person used an average of 120 chips yearly, from smartphones to household appliances, vehicles, and many other digital products.

Additionally, Mr. Nguyen Huynh Duc Khoa also emphasized on the extremely rich career potential for students of semiconductor economics, digital and other fields of core technology. At the same time, chances of investing in the semiconductor industry are also opening, contributing to not only economics development but also and sustainable economics system for Vietnam in the future. 

 
Mr. Harold Vo shared on the powerful effect of semiconductor industry in HCMC and Vietnam

In the next segment, Mr. Harold Vo provided an in-depth overview of the urgent need to popularize and train the human resources for the semiconductor industry in Vietnam. He expressed the strong impact of the semiconductor industry on the economy of Ho Chi Minh city in particular, Vietnam in general and explained why Vietnam should apply the FABLESS model to take full advantage of cost and high-quality human resources. The speaker also shed light on the required factors in choosing the FABLESS model, while promoting PMIC products (Power Management Integrated Circuits) and Analog devices plays a crucial role.

As part of the series of FOE Marketing activities, this time’s FOE Career Talk provided UEFers the opportunity to expose themselves to valuable knowledge of semiconductors, from the important role of ICT Industry in the economy of Vietnam to the huge potentials in the future.
