With a view to granting students the chance to exchange, learn and enhance their knoweldge about Korean languages and culture, the faculty of International Language and Culture organised an event to offer students experience in making ‘kimchi’ with natives in the afternoon of March 11.
Students majoring in Korean Language showed their excitement at the very first moment of the event.
The event was honoured to welcome Mr Park Jeong Hyeop from KKUN Media Company, artisan Song Jea Up – lecturer of Korean Culture. On the side of UEF, there were Dr Nhan Cam Tri – the Vice President of UEF, Ms. Pham Thuy Linh – The Vice Dean of International Language and Culture, together with the attendance of UEF lecturers and students.
Dr. Nham Cam Tri and Ms. Pham Thi Thuy Linh gifted guests and sponsors.
“It is vital for students who learn language of a country to have great understanding of its cultures, customs, and especially traditional cuisine. Events organised by the faculty of International Language and Culture are always highly-appreciated by the School Board. I hope that all students have had fruitful experience in making kimchi, and they will be able to make their own at home.”, Dr Nhan Cam Tri shared in his speech at the event.

As one of the organisers, Ms. Pham Thi Thuy Linh said “in the past, the faculty hosted this kind of event for the students before. Offering opportunities for students, especialy those whose major is Korean Language to gain practical experience in cuisine and culture of the country that is associated with their speciality are another purpose of the this year’s event.”
With the excitement of UEF students, Ms Song Jea Up gave instructions and guidance on how to make such “Korean” kimchi. Beside knowledge in cooking in general, UEFers were also provided with knoweldge about Korean indispensable traditional food. Especially, participating in the event, they had a lively experience of a chief to make “kimchi” by themselves.

“Even though “kimchi” is one of my favourite food, this was the first time I made it by myself. This was such an interesting event in which I was given the chance not only to make one of Korean famous cuisine but also to enjoy my first work. These activties are very helpful for students and make our lessons become more intrigued and varied in activities.”, Nguyen Thi Yen Nhi, student of UEF, shared.
The event brought UEFers a special experience with Korean cuisine.
After putting a lot of time and effort, final results eventually came out.
Attending the event, students not only gained knoweldge about the land of kimchi dish but also experienced high-end and good-quality cosmetics from VT Cosmetics. They would be able to take home a set of cosmetics from the sponsor if met with requirements.
Faculty of Internaitonal Language and Culture again experienced an impressive activity.
The event ended with success and left positive and lasting impression. Members of the Korean Language family’ have gain insights into their speciality and undoubtedly, activities held by faculty of International Language and Culture are always practical and attractive.
