FEBRUARY 24, Wishing to provide valuable information alongside practical career stories for experts, within the FIT Career Day 2025, the Faculty of Information Technology organized the series of career orientation workshops for the fields of Technology, E-commerce and Graphic Design.
Grasping Technology trends
With his depth if experience, Mr. Le Ngoc Hieu - Senior Project Manager at FPT Software provided an overview introduction of FPT - One of the leading technology companies in Vietnam during the opening of career orientation workshop for Technology students, as well as offering UEFers a better understanding of the diversity of professions in the fields of Information Technology, Data Science and Software Engineering. From reasons for choosing the field to envisioning future jobs, he also mentioned common misconceptions people often have when talking about the field of Technology, as well as revealing diverse job opportunities.
In addition to highlighting technology trends dominating the market such as Java, Python, mobile programming and data,... the speaker also scavenged hot job positions in the field of Technology such as Back-end Developer, Full-stack Developer, Front-end Developer, Android Developer,... In this way, he provided UEFers a more comprehensive perspective of the Information Technology industry, from Product companies to Outsource companies.
According to Mr. Le Ngoc Hieu, the field of Technology is becoming “hot” fields in the current labor market. Job opportunities in the Information Technology field are continuously expanding, from developer, DevOps experts to cybersecurity experts. In addition, the fields of Data Science and Software Engineering are also rapidly developing with available positions such as Data Analyst, Data Scientist, Software Developer, Software Architect, AI Product Manager,... offering significant potential for those who are passionate in technology and creativity.

Additionally, the speaker also offered significantly valuable information about the demand of Human Resources in IT, the minimum wage and practical stories on daily jobs. Especially, he emphasized the importance of creating a clear career development pathway with three core factors: skills, experiences and promotion opportunities.

The speaker also emphasized on the impact of AI on E-Commerce. Accordingly, the boom of AI not only boosted E-Commerce activities but also helped optimize processes and reduce the need of human resources in some particular jobs. However, Mr. Minh Duc also confirmed that: AI can’t replace humans, but those who can use AI can replace those who can’t. So, he encouraged students to continuously learn and update their technology skills, especially AI, to timely meet the increasingly high demand of the jib market and ready to seize potential career opportunities.
Followed by the theme “Gen Z working in E-Com”, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hong Nhung - E-Commerce manager at True Digital Vietnam together with UEFers delved into the E-Commerce market. The speaker provided an overview of the rapid development of E-Commerce in recent times, while also analyzing the prevailing trends and business models. Especially, she emphasized that doing E-Commerce isn’t just about selling online but also includes various tasks such as data analysis, product management to optimizing operational activities.
Sharing on how Gen Z can establish their career in E-Commerce, the speaker offered critical skills that the young ones are required to acquire in order to succeed. Hard skills such as data analysis, market research, inventory management or system operations are a solid foundation. At the same time, soft skills such as teamwork, communication, situational handling, and stress management are equally important.
The speaker also pointed out the current “top four” jobs in E-commerce: E-Commerce operation, Livestream & Content Creator, E-Commerce platform staff and Performance Marketer. These are the job opportunities that Gen Z can seize to build a solid career in a rapidly growing and promising industry.
The role of Graphic Design
Before understanding deeper about Graphic Design with UEFers, Mr. Nguyen Hai Minh - Director of Winston Agency shared:” To determine your future career path, you guys need to answer the question of whether you desire and are suited to delve deeply into a specific major or specialization.” This is a beginning step for each individual to clearly define their direction in this creative and promising design industry.
In the next section, Mr. Huynh Vinh Phuc - Art Director of Wowweekend pointed out that not everyone who studies design can excel in creative design. Design is the combination of many skill sets such as aesthetic, creativity, software management, strategy and story-telling. The speaker encouraged young designers to flexibly and appropriately apply these skills to each work context to achieve success.

In the meantime, thye speakers provided UEFers clear distinction between roles in the Graphic Design industry such as graphic designer, project manager, versatile graphic designer and “design worker”, thereby helping them to better understand the job market.
Mr. Huynh Vinh Phuc also emphasized three essential skills for designers in the modern era being soft skills, design mindset and tools skills. In the meantime, he also advised students to study all fields evenly, but its is important to be aware of their own strengths and weaknesses in order to choose a suitable career path.
