DECEMBER 19, in a world facing global issues such as climate change, resources crisis and the aftermath from a lifestyle that lacks sustainability, the role of leadership becomes more relevant than ever. However, a leader went beyond just being a manger but also required to possess the ability to connect, inspire and promote positive values to create a sustainable future. With the goal mentioned, The Faculty of Business Administration organized the discussion of “Youth Leadership Seminar 3: Leader for Sustainable Future”. The activity became a forum for knowledge sharing, provoke teh desire to change between the youth - the generation that holds the “key” towards a greener, cleaner and more sustainable world.
On behalf of the Faculty of Business Administration joined in the discussion were Dr. Ly Dan Thanh - Dean, Mr. Tran Hoang Nam - Deputy Dean, Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Thuy Tien - Deputy Director together with the UEFers and lecturers of the Faculty. The Board of mentors included Mr. Stephen Nguyen - National Manager of Singapore Chartered Accountants; Mr. Piotr Antoni Binkowski - Former Management Director of Moneygram International Inc and Mr. Le Vu Thien - Senor IELTS Coach at Easy Edu, IELTS 8.0
From the information provided by the organizers, Youth Leadership Seminar 3 received more than 100 articles, including 48 chosen to be brought into the memorial book and 4 chosen by the team of experts for presentation. All presenters are UEFers.
Mr. Tran Hoang Nam emphasized the importance of interference between leadership roles and sustainability values in his speech at the discussion. He encouraged students to confidently explore, take action, and turn ideas into real-world solutions. In addition, Mr. Tran Hoang Nam also pay tribute to the speakers, experts and organizers for their effort in creating a meaningful and valuable program.
With an environment-centered viewpoint, UEFer Truong Quy Bao guided participants in discovering the importance of recycling and waste management, taking inspiration from the concept of “denial, reduce, recycle and reuse”. He highlighted the role of recycle in waste management, fossil fuel conservation and economical benefits, especially in the fashion industry. And eventually, his personal experiences in recycling worn clothes to support the homeless greatly inspired the audiences.
Phan Huy Loc continued the story with thoughtful analysis on the importance of leadership in promoting sustainability within organizations. According to Loc, the leadership style consists of four aspects: motivation to inspire, ideology influence, individualization interest and intelligence promotion. Huy Loc then emphasized on the leadership style can strongly create inspirations, which later on change the employee’s attitude and behavior in facing various ecological forms. Practical examples from big companies or cutting-edge air-filtration technologies highlight how organizations can apply innovative solutions to achieve sustainability goals.
On a different hand, Vu An approached the realistic point of view in the need of resolving micro problems upon facing more serious issues. She shed light on the role of education in enriching the awareness to protect the environment at an early age, while giving practical examples like using recycle bags to reduce plastic waste. Vu An also cleverly gave questions on the results of a few forms, which later giving out the balancing issue between raising awareness and taking practical actions to create long-term changes.
The forum not only brought new opinions, viewpoints but also ignited the belief and determination within each teenager who participated to promote sustainability goals to the community. The activity contributed to motivating each young person to step up, lead and contribute to building a sustainable future.
