Each student should nurture in themselves a strong desire for a bright future with the knowledge and skills they have accumulated during the four years of University. Be foolish - that is taking risks. Youth always has moments of impulsiveness and mistakes, but not because of that, we falter. Every member of the IR family should always give their best in every job, in every moment to perfect themselves. Living in a diverse environment of the New Normal, the Dean of the Faculty of International Relations hopes that students will always be "Open heart, open mind". Open-minded to form divergent thinking, listen to constructive suggestions. Open your heart to enter the world of others as well as to let others enter your world, thereby building a connection between people and realizing the value of emotions. Finally, Dr. Tran Thanh Huyen sent the new K21 students a message: (1) we may be vulnerable but not easily defeated; (2) seek and make fun of yourself; (3) always learn to be grateful.
With the topic "Into the new world", BTC wishes to be able to help students of the Faculty of International Relations to understand more about the multi-meaning of this phrase. A world that is always multidimensional in space, multi-religious and culturally diverse is what this year's IR Rise wants to convey to K21 new students.
“Into the new world” is a combination of three elements:
“The world” - is our Earth, the globe on which we all live. In that great “The world” there will be different countries and territories. Each of those subjects are smaller “The world” but contain many interesting things. “IR world” - is the world of our Faculty. Where students see this as a stop, a transit station on the way we grow up. This world is synonymous with youth, with a journey of discoveries that will forever go into memories, which will give you surprises and awkwardness. After all, every student will be strong as we board the train into the future. And "Your world" - a world of your own. Everyone is a special universe, a separate world like no other. So we will also discover ourselves, learn to love ourselves. And know what I can do for the small worlds that are accompanying me at this transit station.
For the "The World" part, to better understand the vast world around them, students can participate in interesting games about different countries and cuisines. In the game "Guess the flag", you will see on the screen the appearance of 4 national flags with similar features and then your task is to find the correct national flag in the game in 15-20 seconds.
Continuing with the Department of National and Territorial Identification, the students traveled into the culinary world of the countries in the ASEAN Community. The dishes are introduced as: Ambuyat (Brunei); Amok (Cambodia) - is the soul of Cambodian cuisine; Nasi Goreng (Indonesia): is fried rice with chicken, seafood, vegetables, eggs and sweet soy sauce; Larb (Laos): is a salad that is considered the national dish of Laos, very popular in Laos and the Isan region in Northeast Thailand; Nasi Lemak (Malaysia); Mohinga (Myanmar): Is a type of noodle soup with catfish in Myanmar and is also an essential part of Burmese cuisine. Adobo (Philippines): is a very famous popular dish, imbued with Filipino culinary culture, Adobo originates from the Spanish word meaning "marinated"; Chicken rice (Singapore): is a dish consisting of boiled chicken and seasoned rice, served with chili sauce and cucumber garnish; Tom Yam (Thailand): known as Tom Yam (Tom Yum) or Thai sour soup is the name of a hot and sour soup typical in Thai cuisine; Pho (Vietnamese): is a traditional dish of Vietnam, originating from Hanoi and Nam Dinh. In addition, the students also learned more interesting information about the dishes appearing on diplomatic receptions.
In the Your World section, here, the new students listened to the sharing of K17, the first course of the Faculty of International Relations-UEF. Your sharing revolves around the perception and action of a "Global Citizen" from the process of studying and training at the Faculty. Specifically, each student should respect the cultural diversity and beliefs of others, actively participate in extracurricular activities at home and abroad, be flexible and proactively adapt to life's changes. Or how has the “New Normal” impacted you? COVID 19 is both an opportunity and a challenge for every student, so K17 would like you to always maintain a clear mind, comfort, determination and perseverance to study and practice well.
Coming to the IR-World part, the students participated in the Tarot game. The first deck of cards will be famous subjects, special subjects of International Relations such as World Civilization History, International Relations Theory, Diplomatic Operations,... The deck of cards the second has cards containing pictures showing the aspect/characteristics of our Profs in question, after each question, a clearer introduction will be presented to help students better understand each Prof.
Next, representatives of Courses K18, K19, K20 also sent the freshest and most practical messages to the new students. According to Mr. Long Thien and Hoai Nhan (K18), we "Dare to be yourself"; “Not afraid to make mistakes, just afraid that you won't show it” According to Mr. Duc Vinh and Ms. Minh Thu (K19) "Study hard and play hard" According to Mr. Hoang Huy and Hoang Phi (K20) "Discover" myself and appreciate those who are accompanying you to study”
Contributing to making the atmosphere of the ceremony more joyful and vibrant, the new students had a performance to welcome the yard through the choreography to the music of the song "What makes you beautiful?" The new K21 students are talented, young and dynamic people and hope that you will keep this flame of enthusiasm in the Faculty's and school's activities for the next 4 years of university will be the best memories of your youth.
One of the special parts of the ceremony was the clip "Bringing Fire" - transmitting faith and hope in a successor and successor generation of the Faculty of International Relations. The clip records the journey of giving Khoa coats to representatives of K21. Through the clip, the Faculty of International Relations hopes that each new student will contribute to preserving and building the identity and soul of the Faculty’s shirt with all its pride and efforts.
It's also time for RISE 2021 to say goodbye. Hopefully the program has left beautiful memories in the hearts of new students - a launch pad for us to move towards the next successes. The Faculty of International Relations would like to express our deep gratitude to the Ambassadors, guests, administrators, teachers, and students for their time for this special event.
