UEF announcement of the PhD admission – trench 2 - 2020

Based on the Procedures for PhD Admission and Education, issued together with the Decree No. 08/2017/TT-BGDĐT dated 04/4/2017 issued by the Minister of the Ministry of Education and Training; Based on the Decision No. 97/QĐ-BGDDT of the Minister of the Ministry of Education and Training on the permission for the HCMC University of Economics and Finance (UEF) to organize PhD education, UEF announces the PhD admission Trench 2 – 2020 as follows:
1. Education major
- Business administration (code: 9340101)
2. Education form and duration
Form: Centralized education
Duration: 03 years for Master graduates, 04 years for Bachelor graduates.
3. Application requirements
Applicants need to meet the following requirements:
3.1. Graduated from a university with Excellent ranking or possessed a Master degree.
3.2. Is the author of at least 01 article or report whose topic relates to the intended research area published on a scientific magazine or seminar book or field scientific workshop whose feedback was within 03 years (36 months) until the registration date.
3.3. Vietnamese applicants need to have one of the following certificates or proofs of the foreign language proficiency:
a) University qualification or Master degree issued by a foreign institute for those who have completed a full-time degree taught in English or other foreign languages;
b) University qualification with a foreign language major issued by a Vietnamese university;
c) TOEFL iBT from 45 scores or IELTS (Academic Test) from 5.0 issued by an examination organization that is internationally and Vietnam recognized, issued within 02 years (24 months) till the registration date;
d) The applicant who meets the requirements stated at Point a Article 3.3 if the language used during the degree was not English; or meets the requirements stated at Point b Article 3.3 if graduated from a foreign language major other than English; or possesses other foreign language certificate at an equivalent level (defined at the Appendiz II) stated in Point c of article 3.3 issued by an examination organization that is internationally and Vietnam recognized, issued within 02 years (24 months) until the registration date, is required to be able to communicate in English in their professional field (can express matters of their professional field for others to understand in English and can understand other’s expression of professional field’s matters in English).
3.4. Foreign applicants need to have Vietnamese proficiency level of Level 4 or higher according to the Vietnamese proficiency framework used for foreigners or meet the specific requirements of foreign languages determined by the education institute.
3.5. Meets all the requirements about management experience and have accumulated work duration of at least 01 year.

4. PhD application package:
4.1. Application form (form attached);
4.2. Scientific history (form attached); Resume (form attached);
4.3. Certified copies of qualifications and certificates or copies together with original documents for comparison;
- University graduate qualifications and transcripts;
- Master graduate qualifications and transcripts;
- Foreign language certificates that are still valid;
- Other qualifications and certificates (if any).
Qualifications and certificates issued by foreign institutes have to be translated and certified and recognized by an authority in compliance with current regulations.
4.4. Proofs of scientific research experience stated at Article 3.2 of this announcement. They include 06 copies of published scientific research works (stapled in books, name written and list of titles in the cover page), in details:
- Articles: a copy of the cover page, tables of contents, and the article contents.
- Scientific researches: a copy of the Decision/Contract of conducting the research, the Minute of topic acceptance and the Summary of research topic contents (to those who are participants and are not the sole author there must be a confirmation of the research leader).
4.5. 01 original and 05 copies of the Recommendation letter judging the applicant’s professional ethics, professional ability, and research ability from at least 01 scientists who are designated Professor, Associate Professor, or Doctor of Science, or Doctor who has participated in professional activities with the applicant and have deep understanding of the area in which the applicant intends to do research.
4.6. 06 copies of the overview of research intention of the applicant.
4.7. 02 photos sized 3x4
4.8. Commitment of the study, research, and financial obligations for the education process as regulated.
4.9. Copy of ID card
4.10. Health certificate.
The university does not return the applications after submission.
5. Admission submission time and evaluation
- Admission submission: From the announcement date till 22/10/2020
- (Expected) overview defense: On 5/11/2020
