08/27/2024

According to the results announced on August 23 by the world-renowned QS-Quacquarelli Symonds (UK), UEF (University of Economics and Finance, Ho Chi Minh City) has once again achieved a 4-star rating in the international QS Stars assessment. After a 3-month evaluation, UEF received an overall 4-star rating and earned a prestigious 5-star rating in five categories.

New Standards Where UEF Achieved a 5-Star Rating

In the second evaluation cycle, UEF became the first university in Vietnam to apply the new QS Stars 6.0 standards, launched in February 2024. The updated framework includes nine criteria: Teaching (quality of education), Employability (student employment), Facilities (infrastructure), Good Governance, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Academic Development, Programme Strength, Global Engagement, and Environmental Impact.

In the 2024 evaluation, UEF achieved 5-star ratings in 5 out of 9 criteria:

  • Teaching (Quality of education)
  • Facilities (Infrastructure)
  • Employability (Student employment)
  • Good Governance
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

For the new QS Stars 6.0 standards, QS has updated many criteria related to the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to support internationally-oriented universities and prepare a workforce with the knowledge and skills to address community and societal challenges.
Among these, the Good Governance standard evaluates the development strategy of a higher education institution, risk management strategy, staff satisfaction (including faculty and administrative personnel), quality assurance, policies related to the United Nations' sustainable development, transparency, and gender balance. In this evaluation round, with the Good Governance standard, the institution achieved 5 Stars on its first evaluation.
Additionally, QS introduced the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion standard, replacing the previous Comprehensive Development standard, to assess how a university provides an equitable learning environment, fosters individual development, respects differences, and encourages freedom of expression.
