This course is part of a joint training program between the University of Gloucestershire and UEF. Students are divided into 4 groups, carrying out a community project with the theme “Engaging Humanities” aiming to provide communication and educational support at 2 partner institutions, which are the Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing  (CED) and Mai Am Truyen Tin.

After three months of research, analysis, and project development, the four student groups, each with a unique project, received positive feedback and satisfaction from their partners. These projects include CED Multimedia Communication, Letting Voices Be Heard, Teaching English to Orphaned Children, and A Yearbook for Mai Am Truyen Tin.

The sincere sharing of Ms. Bui Thi Ngoc, representing CED

Responding to the projects, Ms. Bui Thi Ngoc - CED representative, expressed: "UEF students are very dynamic and creative, true to the characteristics of Vietnamese youth, they bear the mark of the lecturers and the school. I appreciate the capacity and enthusiasm of the teachers for the students". At the same time, on behalf of Ms. Duong Phuong Hanh, founder and director of CED, she also complimented the projects and thanked the UEF Center of Service-Learning.

Ms. Dao, representing Mai Am Truyen Tin, expressed her desire to continue accompanying us in the future
Regarding A Yearbook for Mai Am Truyen Tin, Ms. Dao expressed: “I am impressed by the enthusiasm of the students and Ms. Lien, who did not mind the long journey to the orphanage to make the yearbook celebrating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Mai Am Truyen Tin. The knowledge the project Teaching English to Orphans has gained is practical and can help the children in their future work. I hope that the good things will spread even more.”

Nowadays, organizations supporting disadvantaged children are increasingly receiving attention. This opens up opportunities for cooperation in many aspects, especially education, helping children access conditions for self-development. The support of the UEF Center of Service-Learning contributes to spreading this humanistic value.

The representative of group 2 with the project Letting Voices Be Heard shared: “Through this, I realized that we are fortunate to have all the conditions to develop ourselves. This project has helped me deeply sympathize with people with different circumstances. I myself need to make more efforts to bring value to the community. The subject has also brought me memorable emotions and memories.”

Certainly, the next generations of UEF students will also have the opportunity to experience the Service-Learning model in their specialized subjects. Through this, it can be seen that the Service-Learning subject is truly effective in creating opportunities for students to develop themselves in a multidimensional way through learning from community service activities.
