In order to help young people improve their leadership capacity and contribute opinions on climate change issues, on September 30, the Young Parliament Simulation Forum - Mekong 2023 Program (VNYP) officially opened. with the participation of 86 selected young parliamentarians, including 27 UEF students.

Attending the opening ceremony were Ms. Vo Thi Xuan Quyen - Program Manager, Live & Learn Center, representative of Green Youth Labs project; Ms. Nguyen Hai Linh - National VNYP project manager; Mr. Nguyen Son Tra - Head of the VNYP-Mekong Project Executive Committee and instructor for young parliamentarians; Mr. Nguyen Xuan Truong - Geological engineer, researcher at the Southern Institute of Irrigation Sciences.
On the UEF side, there was Dr. Nhan Cam Tri - Vice Principal of the School, MSc. Tran Thi My Phuong - Director of Community Connection Center.

Speaking at the opening of the program, Dr. Nhan Cam Tri - Vice Principal of the School shared: "The purpose of VNYP is to empower and encourage young people to contribute ideas to solve issues related to climate change in the Mekong Delta and Southeast region, thereby helping young people live more consciously and responsibly with the sustainable development of society. In this year's program, UEF is pleased to be a companion of the Organizing Committee. The program also recruited 86 young parliamentarians, of which 27 are UEF students. You will have 3 months of studying and working to make recommendations on climate change, which will be presented at the United Nations Climate Change Conference taking place in the UAE in the near future. . We hope you will have an interesting experience and make valuable recommendations on climate change, contributing to environmental protection worldwide."

From 172 applications, the VNYP program selected 86 young parliamentarians, divided into 3 project groups including: Southeast, Lower Mekong Delta, Upper Mekong Delta.
Representative of the VNYP-Mekong 2023 Project Executive Board, Mr. Nguyen Son Tra shared general information about the program, emphasizing the goal of VNYP-Mekong 2023 which is to contribute to improving leadership capacity for young people to understand understand the root causes, local knowledge, stakeholders and current national policies related to climate change; empowering youth to participate in policy contributions through the National Assembly simulation model with group discussion sessions and the Local Youth Conference - Mekong Program; co-create solutions and implement projects connecting with local communities through the UNLEASH innovation process.


Within the framework of the program, representatives of the Young Parliamentary Simulation Forum - Mekong Program also signed a memorandum of cooperation with UEF

During the 3 months of studying and working to make recommendations, 86 young parliamentarians will have the companionship and guidance of mentors who are experts in the fields of economics, society, education and the environment. At the opening ceremony, you also met and discussed directly with your mentor and marked meaningful moments together.
