GRAND OPENING OF THE COURSE ON UNDERSTANDING THE AMERICAN LEGAL SYSTEM...

In this course, the American lawyer visited UEF and delivered lectures in person. In 2021, the course was conducted online due to the circumstances surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic.

It is known that he also visited UEF students as part of the Visiting Professor Program in December 2019 and gave lectures for a week. Professor Shapiro is known as a lawyer who represents numerous renowned brands worldwide, including Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, Fenty Beauty and others.

Dr. Do Huu Nguyen Loc, Vice President and Head of the International Institute, warmly welcomed Professor Shapiro.

Participating in the program was Dr. Do Huu Nguyen Loc – Vice President, Head of the International Institute and representative of the Steering Committee of the Faculty of Law. At the beginning, Dr. Do Huu Nguyen Loc gave a welcoming address to Professor Shapiro and recalled their meeting four years ago. Aiming at internationalizing education, he expressed the hope that this course would provide students with comprehensive knowledge and a global perspective on the field of law worldwide, particularly in the United States.

In the first course, Professor Shapiro provided valuable insights into the fundamental aspects of the American legal system.

Upon returning to UEF, Professor Shapiro expressed great excitement about the remarkable experiences and exciting activities with UEF students that motivated him to return. Earlier, on the afternoon of December 24, representatives of the law faculty and members of the ILC club warmly welcomed the professor at the airport

The students focused on listening and answering the professor's questions.

After the opening ceremony, the first class also took place with the topic "The Foundations of American Law." Professor Shapiro shared with students general knowledge about law, legal forms, and analyzed the differences between law and justice. Regarding the foundations of American law, he provided information about the Declaration of Independence, the US Constitution, and the basic laws of the United States.

The representatives from the Faculty of Law and the Integrity Law Club’s members welcomed Professor Shapiro at the airport on the afternoon of December 24.

According to the course schedule, students will have three specialized classes and two field trips. The three upcoming topics include "The US Constitution" (Dec 26), "The US Legal System" (Dec 27), and "Civil Law and Litigation" (Dec 28). Additionally, students will visit the People's Court of Go Vap District on the morning of December 26 and experience "The Role of the State in the Development of High-Tech Agriculture" at the High-Tech Agricultural Park of Ho Chi Minh City on the afternoon of December 29.

Professor Shapiro came to UEF in 2019 and lectured an online course in 2021.

With Professor Shapiro's expertise and friendly approach, it is certain that UEFers will have meaningful classes and experiences. The knowledge and experiences imparted by the American lawyer will also be a solid foundation for students to conquer legal knowledge in both domestic and international contexts.
