UEF OFFICIALLY LAUNCHES THE UNITED STATES LAW CENTER (USLC)

In recent years, Vietnam has actively promoted the process of international integration with effective connections and cooperation with other countries, especially the United States. The friendly relationship between the two countries since its establishment has brought many good results in many fields.
Based on those results and the goal of internationalizing education, UEF decided to establish the United States Law Center (USLC). The official launch ceremony took place on the morning of September 25th. In addition, the Center also shared the topic "How to appoint judges of US courts", bringing a lot of new information and knowledge to the University's lecturers and students.

The Center's launching ceremony was attended by Dr. Nhan Cam Tri, PhD. Do Huu Nguyen Loc - UEF Vice President; Dr. Mach Tran Huy - Deputy Chief of School Office; MS. Huynh Quoc Phong - Director of the Center for Business Cooperation; MS. Nguyen Thi Nguyet Hoang - Deputy Head of Student Affairs Department, Director of UEF Center for Psychological Consulting and Legal Support along with the Board of Directors, lecturers of the Faculty of Law and the International Institute.

On the partner side there is Lawyer Le Binh Phuong - Director of Binh Phuong Law Company Limited; Dr., Lawyer Thai Trung Kien - Director of Law Pro Company Limited; MS. Nguyen Thi Thu Suong - Deputy Head of Legal Department of Tapha Law Company Limited; Arbitrator Nguyen Van Thinh - Vietnam Merchants Arbitration Center; Lawyer Ngo Huynh Phuong Thao from Truong Anh Tu Law Firm.

Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Trang was appointed to Center Director

The American Law Center was established under Decision No. 15/QD-HDT dated August 31st, 2023 as an unit under the Faculty of Law. The Center operates based on two main functions. First is to research, learn, compare, exchange and contribute to perfecting the laws of the two countries in bilateral relationships in finance, trade and juridical. Second is to organize short-term courses with partners who are prestigious law universities in the United States. In addition, the Center will organize summer courses to foster and improve knowledge for lecturers and students on topics about immigration law, investment law, tax law, and US real estate tax.

The establishment of the Center contributes to raising public awareness of global society as well as legal issues in US social, civil and commercial life, and the impact of the trade association process of regional and multilateral for stakeholders in Vietnam. Through that, improve the image and quality of Law training at UEF. Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance (UEF) appointed Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Trang - Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Law is the Director of USLC.

The American Law Center was created with the following main tasks:
- Advise leaders of the Faculty of Law on developing training and research activities on US law;
- Research on regulations, operating mechanisms and application of US law; about the regional and global institutions that US law has influence over; compare Vietnam - US law.
- Search and develop cooperative relationships with universities providing law training in the United States to implement lecturer and student exchange activities; coordinate research with researchers; invite experts to UEF to share knowledge.
- Act as the focal point, coordinating with relevant units to introduce experts, researchers, and practitioners to US partners and vice versa.
- Coordinate with relevant units, organize forums, exchanges and academic exchanges about the US and Vietnamese legal systems.
