UEFERS ARE EQUIPPED WITH SKILLS TO IMPRESS INTERNATIONAL EMPLOYERS BY THE HUMAN RESOURCES DIRECTOR.

On October 17, 2024, UEF welcomed guests from the University of Minnesota (UMN) to discuss and collaborate on international programs related to the field of Law. In conjunction with this visit, a representative from UMN also served as the keynote speaker for the talk show titled "U.S. Work Culture - How to Stand Out and Win the Job Interview," organized by the Faculty of Law in collaboration with the Integrity Law Club. During this event, essential skills were shared to equip students with the ability to impress international employers.

UEFers gain valuable work experience insights from international experts.  

The representative from UMN is Mr. Nguyen Phuc Thai Duong, the Human Resources Director of the School of Public Health at the University of Minnesota. From UEF, the attendees include Dr. Do Huu Nguyen Loc - the Vice President of UEF; Associate Professor Dr. Duong Anh Son - the Head of the Faculty of Law; and Mr. Nguyen Nam Trung - the Deputy Director of the U.S. Law Center.

During the exchange, representatives from the Faculty of Law provided an overview of the faculty and proposed potential collaborative programs with UMN. The topics discussed included: a faculty and student exchange program, an international 3+1 program, and a master's degree study abroad program in Law for UEF graduates.

 

Representatives of the two schools discussed programs that could cooperate in the field of Law.

 

From the preliminary information exchanged, UEF hopes to establish a strong cooperative relationship with UMN in the near future, as well as create opportunities for students to study and develop in a dynamic international environment.

 

Coming to the talk show, Mr. Nguyen Phuc Thai Duong brought students the necessary skills to perform best in interviews in an international environment.

The skills that the speaker shared to help students conquer international employers are: Researching information about the company applying for, preparation, punctuality, professional demeanor, communication skills, self-introduction, asking questions, responding to employers, and evaluating the interview.

In each skill segment, the speaker analyzed the dos and don'ts of the interview process, providing illustrative examples to help students better visualize the concepts. Additionally, Mr.Thai Duong guided the students on how to write a resume and cover letter (CV) when applying to foreign companies, while also pointing out common mistakes to avoid in order to create a polished resume/CV that makes a good impression on international recruiters.

Students practiced writing resumes/CVs and interviewing with the speaker.

During the program, the speaker addressed students' questions in detail. Students also had the opportunity to practice writing CVs and conducting mock interviews to receive feedback and suggestions from the speaker,  thereby effectively honing their skills.

Students were awarded certificates from international experts.

From the meeting and cooperative exchange with the guest from the University of Minnesota, it is hoped that students will soon have the chance to participate in many quality international learning activities. Through this talkshow, UEFers have acquired important skills and are encouraged to proactively apply them in real-life situations, striving for self-improvement and continuously working towards seizing job opportunities in multinational companies and corporations.
