UEF International Institute launches the “Student Research Competitions 2024-2025: Research Mavericks”

DECEMBER 18, the UEF International Institution organized a kick-off event for “Student Research Competitions 2024-2025: Research Mavericks”. This platform is designed for international bachelor’s students with a passion for scientific research. It provides an opportunity for outstanding projects to advance to city-level, Ministry-level, and Euréka competitions.

The program featured the presence of Dr. Do Huu Nguyen Loc - UEF Vice President, Dr. Ngo Minh Hai - UEF Vice President, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Luan - Deputy Director, Department of Science, Technology, and International Projects, Ms. Tran Phuong Quynh - Deputy Director, UEF International Institute, along with faculty members. In his opening remarks, Dr. Do Huu Nguyen Loc emphasized the value of the competition in enhancing students’ academic rigor, creative thinking skills, and ability to apply their research projects in practical contexts.

The competition has attracted 14 research projects from individuals and student groups, covering diverse fields such as economics, tourism, communication and marketing, artificial intelligence, and psychology. Especially, during the kick-off event, students had the opportunity to participate in a workshop with two experienced speakers in scientific research: Dr. Daisy Kanagasapapathy and Mr. Nguyen Truong Gia Minh.


Dr. Daisy Kanagasapapathy shared valuable experiences from her journey transitioning from the industrial sector to academia. She emphasized that passion is a key factor in overcoming challenges and achieving success. In addition, she encouraged students to constantly broaden their global perspective and apply their research to real-life contexts.


Ms. Nguyen Tuong Gia Minh, a UEF alumnus and currently a lecturer at HUFLIT, shared an inspiring story from her personal experience. She affirmed that scientific research not only helps students discover themselves but also cultivates critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Additionally, she encouraged young people to boldly step beyond their limits to reach the pinnacle of knowledge.


The students asked a variety of interesting questions regarding the skills necessary for scientific research, which were answered in detail by the experts. The practical insights shared by the speakers boosted the students' confidence in successfully completing their research projects.

The kick-off event took place in an energetic and highly interactive atmosphere. The competition promises to be a springboard for UEF students in their pursuit of scientific research.
