09/28/2024

The success of UEF's Japan internship programme over the past two years has established a crucial foundation, providing motivation for the university to launch new initiatives and realize the global ambitions of its young students. For the 2024-2025 academic year, UEF continues to expand internship opportunities in Japan for students across various disciplines. This international internship programme is designed to enhance students' professional skills, offer valuable cultural experiences, and prepare them for a promising career path.

Recognizing the potential and challenges that the international internship programme brings to UEF students, on the afternoon of September 27, the Career Cooperation Center, in collaboration with the Vietnam-Japan Human Resource Development Center, organized a Japan Internship Programme Information Day. The event not only helped students gain a deeper understanding of internship opportunities but also encouraged them to confidently step into the world and develop their future careers.

A wealth of useful information about the internship programme in Japan was provided to students across various disciplines

Representing the businesses at the event were Mr. Nakayama Ken, Director of Nakayama Agency, a representative from IFK Japan, and Mr. Nguyen Phuong Trinh, Director of IFK Education and Translation Co., Ltd.

On behalf of UEF, the attendees included Dr. Nhan Cam Tri, Vice President; representatives from various faculties, including the Faculty of Languages and International Cultures (Japanese Language major), the Faculty of English, and the Center of Corporate Partnerships.

Representatives from UEF and IFK expressed their gratitude to each other

As a university that applies an international training model, creating opportunities for students to intern and work in foreign companies has always been one of UEF’s important, long-term goals. By participating in these programmes, students not only learn and develop comprehensively but also have the chance to absorb valuable culture, knowledge, and experience while honing their language skills. Moreover, the paid internships affirm the individual value that each student has achieved.

Dr. Nhan Cam Tri affirmed the immense value of the international internship program

Before starting your internship, you need to prepare a strong mindset, ready to embrace new experiences and explore work at various levels. Equip yourself with strong language skills to communicate effectively and learn from those around you. With solid preparation in both mindset and skills, the doors to success will open wide, allowing you to have an internship that is not only successful but also deeply meaningful.

Next, a representative from the business sector shared insights about the internship programme in Japan's restaurant, hotel, and resort industries. Mr. Nakayama Ken noted that UEFers have left a strong impression on Japanese companies due to their professionalism and eagerness to learn. Their effective communication skills, adaptability in the workplace, and solid professional knowledge have earned them the trust of employers. Many companies appreciate the proactivity, creativity, and enthusiasm of UEFers, highlighting them as valuable talent for leading companies in Japan.

Initially, the internship programme focused solely on Japanese Language majors, but it has since expanded to include fields such as Business Administration, Language Studies, Tourism and Hospitality Management, and International Relations. This expansion demonstrates the students' commitment to seizing opportunities, with language no longer seen as a barrier.

Mr. Nakayama Ken shared about the roles UEFers will take on during their internships at high-end restaurants, hotels, and resorts in Japan

He also emphasized the unique aspects of the accommodation business in Japan, particularly the ryokan—traditional inns famous for their wooden architecture, often located in beautiful natural settings, and offering a unique onsen (hot spring) bathing experience. A distinctive feature of the ryokan is the spirit of Omotenashi, the sincere and wholehearted hospitality of the Japanese people.

Regarding the internship tasks, students will gain hands-on experience in various hotel operations, primarily in front desk duties, guest service, and management. Specific tasks related to hospitality include table service, cooking, and housekeeping. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to experience Japanese culture, learn Japanese-style cooking, receive training in fire safety, disaster preparedness, hygiene management, engage in cultural exchange, and practice practical Japanese language skills.

It is noted that interview sessions will be held regularly in accordance with UEF and partner regulations. Students are encouraged to seize this opportunity to register for interviews and realize their dream of going abroad, with the promise of gaining valuable experiences and knowledge that will benefit their career development. Notably, for successful applicants, the university will offer free preparatory classes to help them improve their language skills and learn about the information and skills relevant to Japanese culture.

Before concluding the programme, UEFers also had their questions addressed by Dr. Nhan Cam Tri, representatives from the Faculty of Languages and International Cultures, and business representatives. They provided comprehensive information on key aspects of the internship program, including application procedures, costs, as well as living and working conditions in Japan.

Representatives from UEF and the businesses actively addressed students' questions about the internship programme

Through the valuable information shared, it is hoped that UEFers will find the inspiration to confidently step into the world, learn, and develop themselves. Each experience in the Land of the Rising Sun will not only help them gain knowledge and work experience but also create wonderful memories, contributing to a meaningful journey of growth.
