K-Chum Festival 2024 finals: A spectacular showcase of Vietnamese - Korean cultural harmony

DECEMBER 20 - In the spirit of cultural exchange, Vietnam and South Korea have numerous similarities, particularly in arts and culture. Leveraging these shared values, students collaborated to create a truly explosive finale for the third K-Chum Festival 2024.
K-Chum Festival 2024 finals dazzle with outstanding performance

K-Chum Festival is a grand artistic event where performances soar, and young talents shine through dance, music, and stories celebrating the cultural and historical connections between Vietnam and South Korea. Organized by the Korea Language Department, under UEF Faculty of Languages and International Cultures, in collaboration with Korean Language Education Center in Ho Chi Minh City, Teammint Company, and Chungkang College of Cultural Industries. 
The K-Chum Festival 2024 finals welcomed distinguished guests, including Mr. Kil Ho Jin - Director of Korean Language Education Center, Mr. Joe Gyu Hyoen - Legal Representative of Teammint Company, Dr. Lee Cho Won - Professor of Faculty of Fashion and Beauty at Chungkang College of Cultural Industries.

Representing UEF at the event were Mr. Do Quoc Anh - Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, Dr. Ngo Minh Hai - Vice President, Mr. Vo Van Thanh Nhan - Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Languages and International Cultures, Director of the  Center of Vietnam-Japan Human Resources Development, Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan - Head of the Chinese Language, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Languages and International Cultures, Ms. Pham Thi Thuy Linh - Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Languages and International Cultures, Ms. Bui Thi My Linh - Head of the Korean Language, Mr. Bui Quang Dong - Director of the Department of Student Services, along with other faculty leaders, lecturers, and a large number of students.

The Finale featured intense competition among 10 exceptional teams, chosen from over 100 young talents from universities and colleges in Southern Vietnam. This year’s champion was decided by a panel of professional judges, including: Choreographer Jung Sol, Lecturer at Sol Dance Studio, Dr. Kim Myung Hee - Dean of the Faculty of Fashion and Beauty of Chungkang College of Cultural Industries, Choreographer Sun D, Choreographer P.O and Choreographer Tai Phan.

The 10 finalist teams showcased their talents, each team delivering a distinctive and unique performance. Each performance intertwined meaningful stories and messages, showcasing the cultural highlights of both Vietnam and South Korea. Furthermore, the teams skillfully merged K-pop and V-pop, creating a significant impact through their performances. The students drew from a range of elements, from traditional to modern, and from folklore to the long-standing spiritual culture of both nations.

After rigorous preparation, all 10 teams presented impressive performances to both the judges and the audience. This was reflected through their thoughtful investment in costumes, props, choreography, confidence and professional performance style. The expert judges praised the teamwork and the unique stories and messages each team conveyed during this remarkable event.

The excitement of the final night was further intensified by the enthusiastic cheers of both UEFers and students of outside university. Their support served as an inspiration, motivating the teams to perform with even more energy and brilliance, elevating their acts to a whole new level. A special highlight of the event was the guest performance and interaction with singer Minh Kha, runner-up of The Next Gentleman, who energized the crowd and created various memorable moments of the competition.

The final results were as follow: 

  • First Prize: Best Fancy Project.
  • Second Prize: Black Widow Dance Team.
  • Third Prize:  LÉmuria Dance Team.
  • Encouragement Prize: T2M “Time to Maximus”, The KOD Crew và 4G.
  • Best Costume: Black Widow Dance Team.
UEF congratulated all teams for their effort and dedication
Wrapping up a remarkable season, K-Chum Festival 2024 not only recognized the talent, dedication and passion for Vietnamese - Korean culture but also provided opportunities for students to meet, interact and connect with each other. Together, they contributed to the resounding success of the third K-Chum Festival in 2024.
