The Vietnamese Student Informatics Olympiad is a prestigious national competition since 1992, founded by the Vietnam Association for Information Processing, the Vietnamese Student Association, and the Ministry of Education and Training, to encourage the informatics learning movement and motivate young IT talents. This year, student Le Duy Khanh - the excellent UEF House representative who won second prize in the Informatics division - has added another hallmark on the roll of honors of the Information Technology (IT) faculty in particular, and the University in general.

The 29th Vietnamese Student Informatics Olympiad 2020 held at Can Tho University, along with the ICPC International Student Programming Competition in Asia - Can Tho (ICPC Asia Can Tho), has become a big competition for students in Vietnam and Asia.
Gathering representatives from many universities and colleges across Vietnam and other countries, the contest is divided into many units in correspondence with candidates’ academic backgrounds: IT Specialist, Non-IT Specialist, Super Cup, College, Procon, and Open-source Software. The UEF FIT team includes 4 students from the IT department: Le Duy Khanh, Nguyen Duy Cuong, Duong Thanh Nguyen, and Phan Minh Nhat. They participated in 2 of the contest’s contents, namely, the IT Specialist Division and the PROCON Vietnam Unit.

This year, the IT Specialist unit reported the participation of 157 outstanding candidates that were selected from top universities and possessing advantages in IT national training. With the final second prize, Le Duy Khanh brought an honorable achievement to the faculty as well as the UEF team, affirming new advances of the university's training quality for the IT majors.

Considered as the most honorable award for students in the IT majors, the achievements at the Student Informatics Olympics this time acknowledged the efforts and enthusiastic guidance of Mr. Hoang Van Hieu - lecturer at UEF IT faculty – since April 2020. In his two years of directly leading the team (since 2019), both Mr. Hieu and his students brought proud achievements for the university.
Previously, Le Duy Khanh and his teammates also won many awards at the IT academic playgrounds, such as Third Prize of "Scientific Research Student Award 2020", Consolation Prize of "Research Student Science Euréka 2020 ", and Top 6 in the Information Technology division of "Infinity Blockathon for City Transformation 2020".

Once again, congratulations to Le Duy Khanh, Mr. Hoang Van Hieu, and the collective of IT faculty for obtaining new achievements right in the last month of 2020. Hopefully, this will motivate the academic movements of the department to grow more and more in the next year.
