UEFers Secure Third Place in the “National Korean Speaking Contest – Korean Ambassador Cup 2024

The Grand Finale of the "National Korean Speaking Contest – Korean Ambassador Cup," organized by the Embassy of Korea in Vietnam in collaboration with various partners, officially took place in Hanoi. The contest attracted participation from 66 institutions, including 25 universities, 27 middle and high schools, and 14 King Sejong Institutes nationwide.


After the Northern and Southern Regional Semi-Finals, 16 outstanding contestants advanced to compete in the Grand Finale held on October 19. Ha Nguyen Phuong Thao, a 2020 student of Korean Language in the Faculty of Languages and International Cultures, achieved an impressive third place in the final round.

In the Grand Finale, Phuong Thao competed against numerous contestants representing universities nationwide. Overcoming challenging rounds focused on language and cultural understanding, Phuong Thao excelled in securing third place with her presentation on the topic: A Moment I Want to Share. She spoke about the moment she was recognized as an outstanding intern during a program she participated in last year.

Phuong Thao demonstrated composure and confidence throughout the competition. Her mastery of Korean grammar and pronunciation, combined with her profound knowledge of Korean culture and adaptable presentation style, left a strong impression on the judges. This remarkable achievement reflects her relentless dedication and the attentive guidance and support from her instructors.

Representing UEF, Phuong Thảo’s exceptional efforts and passion for the language and culture of Korea earned her this prestigious accomplishment. Her success serves as a source of inspiration for fellow students, especially those pursuing Korean Studies. Reflecting on her achievement, Phuong Thao shared:“The opportunity to compete in the Grand Finale was an incredibly valuable experience and a powerful motivation for me to continue my journey in learning Korean. It was also a chance to connect and learn from other contestants. Although I only secured third place, I feel truly happy and proud of the effort I put into preparing for the contest. I am also deeply grateful for the dedicated guidance of Ms. Pham Thi Thuy Linh, Deputy Head of the Faculty of International Languages and Cultures and Head of Korean Language, as well as Ms. Kim Hyunjin, Lecturer of Korean Language, throughout this journey.”
 


Previously, UEFers have also achieved numerous awards in various Korean language competitions
 
The National Korean Speaking Contest – Korean Ambassador Cup is one of the largest Korean language competitions for students in Vietnam. This year marks the third time the competition has been held. Organized by the Embassy of Korea, the contest aims to encourage Vietnamese students to learn Korean while supporting them to become key talents in strengthening the Vietnam-Korea relationship, with scholarships for studying in Korea as part of the initiative.

This achievement is a significant recognition of the relentless efforts and dedication of UEFers in honing their knowledge, as well as the support and encouragement of faculty members from the Faculty of Languages and International Cultures. It is hoped that this recognition will serve as a stepping stone for further success, allowing Phuong Thao to shine even brighter in the future with the passion she has chosen to pursue.

Congratulations to Phuong Thao for overcoming every challenge, demonstrating her abilities, and affirming her determination. This success is a testament to her unwavering commitment and tireless efforts. UEF hopes that Phương Thảo, and UEFers in general, will continue to excel in both national and international competitions and arenas.
