MARCH 19 - With the aim to provide international students with practical experiences of Vietnam’s history and culture, UEF organized a sightseeing tour for international students currently studying at the university. This meaningful activity is part of the student exchange program for the 2024-2025 academic year, offering seven students from universities in the United Kingdom and France the opportunity to explore key historical landmarks in Ho Chi Minh City.
As part of their journey, the students visited two historically significant sites—the Independence Palace and the War Remnants Museum—both of which hold great historical value and serve as reminders of key events in Vietnam’s past.

International students and UEFers visit many historical architectural works in Saigon
Their first stop was the Independence Palace, a national cultural and historical monument that played a crucial role in the country’s reunification. Today, it remains a must-visit attraction for millions of domestic and international tourists.
At the site, the students not only admired its distinctive architecture but also learned about the pivotal historical events that took place there. Exploring different areas such as the meeting rooms, grand reception halls, underground bunkers, and gardens allowed them to gain a deeper understanding of the palace’s historical significance within Vietnam’s historical flow.

There are many historical stories that you are interested in and learn about
The journey continued with a visit to the War Remnants Museum, which preserves a vast collection of documents, artifacts, and exhibitions reflecting Vietnam’s historical periods. Through compelling displays, international students were able to engage with history through visual images and immersive stories, developing a deeper appreciation for the resilience of the Vietnamese people and the country’s transformation over time. Beyond acquiring historical knowledge, the visit also broadened their perspectives on the cultural and historical values of the city they are currently calling home.
In addition to exploring these iconic landmarks, the trip also provided an opportunity for international students to interact with UEFers, exchanging thoughts on culture, daily life, and the similarities between their countries. These natural and engaging conversations throughout the journey helped them gain a better understanding of Vietnamese customs and traditions while fostering lasting connections for their academic and cultural experiences at UEF.
