06/05/2024

Guiding and providing students with useful knowledge were  Mr. Felipe Diaz Marin - MBA Hospitality Management, CY Cergy Paris Université and Mr. Vo Hong Son - Dean, Faculty of Business Administration of UEF International Institute.

The activities provided UEF and CYU students with a wealth of valuable knowledge

In the first part of the session, students were randomly assigned into five groups of four members. Each group worked together in order to identify problems and propose solutions based on the given options. With diverse content and perspectives revolving around the hospitality industry, such as restaurants, hotels, F&B (food and beverage), etc., the students presented their ideas with confidence, demonstrating their extensive knowledge along with the flexibility in approaching the real market.

In an effort to expand students’ knowledge and help them figure out effective methods for teamwork and project implementation, Mr. Felipe Diaz Marin and Mr. Vo Hong Son shared their insights on two topics, “Adaptable & Agile - The Entrepreneurial Manager” and “ Value Propositions”.

In Mr. Felipe Diaz Marin’s presentation, students were introduced to the “Agile” concept. According to the speaker, this is a model of operation and circular development, where a large project is divided into small tasks and carried out over a fixed period of time. Through five main processes—Design, Develop, Test, Deploy, and Review—team members are free to develop their abilities in different areas, enabling them to quickly adapt and respond to changes in today's fluctuating market.

Besides presenting the new information, the speaker also reviewed previous knowledge with the students. Mr. Felipe Diaz Marin emphasized some principles of the 5W1H model, or sustainable development in business.

Continuing the lesson with the topic “Value Propositions,” Mr. Vo Hong Son provided valuable insights to help the groups highlight their projects. He addressed some questions, such as how to identify the right target customer for the project, the importance of market research and assessment, or which effective methods for creating value that meet customer needs. Drawing from his extensive experience, the speaker guided the students in finding the answers to these questions, encouraging them to further develop their ideas.

Mr. Vo Hong Son enthusiastically shared numerous insights on how to assert project value.

Following the lecturers’ presentations, students from both universities continued to participate in various unique interactive activities to enhance their understanding and apply the theories they had learned into practice. With five different topics, the team members worked together to research and implement the first steps in the process of designing and operating a complete project. From discussing and identifying the problem, defining target customer groups to proposing and evaluating solutions, all activities were conducted meticulously and professionally, infused with creative energy from the young participants.

The first lesson concluded with a wealth of interesting knowledge and engaging experiences. It is hoped that the insights shared by the experienced lecturers will become a valuable foundation for students as they embark on their projects, and also equip them with the encouragement they need for their professional paths in the future.
