FEBRUARY 12 - 15, continuing to strengthen international cooperation, UEF leaders embarked on a special business trip to Japan. The trip not only fostered partnerships with top educational institutions but also created numerous opportunities for students and lecturers in studying, internships, and research. The delegation included Dr. Nguyen Thanh Giang - UEF President, and Dr. Vo Van Thanh Than - Director of UEF Center of Vietnam-Japan Human Resources Development.
During the meeting, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Giang discussed several collaborative initiatives between the two institutions, including the Asia-Africa Cultural Organization sharing and promoting information about UEF's Japan Internship Program on its official website with mutually agreed content. The organization will also support UEF’s Japan Internship Programs, collaborate on recruitment for the “Specified Skilled Worker” and “Japanese Language Training” programs, facilitate the exchange of Japanese language lecturers, and organize seminars on Japanese language education, cultural exchange, and other agreed-upon topics. Additionally, both parties aim to create employment opportunities in Japan for UEF graduates. In particular, the Asia-Africa Cultural Organization encourages UEF lecturers to visit Japan for training in teaching methodologies at its institution.
Additionally, as part of the visit, UEF representatives were invited to experience Japanese traditional culture, including wearing kimono and participating in a tea ceremony, as well as touring the foundation’s headquarters and so on.
Visit and collab with J.F. Oberlin University
FEBRUARY 14 - the UEF delegation continued their visit to J.F. Oberlin University, located in central Tokyo, Japan.
The delegation was warmly welcomed by Prof.Dr. Yoshiro Tanaka - Vice President, Mr. Fumitake Nakamura - Head of the Foreign Affairs, Mr. Hamada and Mr. Ikeda, who are in charge of international student admissions.
During the meeting, UEF representatives were introduced to J.F. Oberlin University’s academic programs, toured the campus, and participated in cultural exchange activities. Both universities expressed a strong interest in developing a long-term partnership.

During the meeting, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Giang expressed UEF’s aspirations for collaboration between the two universities, including establishing student exchange programs, promoting joint research projects, facilitating faculty and staff exchanges, developing academic programs and credit transfer systems, and organizing cultural exchange events. On the other hand, J.F. Oberlin University also expressed interest in partnering with UEF to organize academic exchange programs combined with cultural exploration activities lasting approximately one to two weeks.
This visit is expected to strengthen the partnership between the two universities, discuss new cooperation opportunities and pave the way for a formal MOU, unlocking high-quality academic and learning exchange activities for students from both institutions.
Sending off eight UEFers returning from internships in Japan
February 14 - As part of the trip, UEF leadership visited Haneda International Airport in Tokyo to meet and bid farewell to eight UEFers who had successfully completed their 12-month internships in Japan.
UEF launched its international internship program in early 2023, with Japan as the first destination. Currently, Japan remains the country with the highest number of UEFers participating in internships, exceeding 300 students.

At the airport, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Giang personally inquired about each student's internship experience and emphasized the significant benefits of international training programs. He stated, “Aligning with global trends, UEF is actively promoting international internships. According to reports, it shows that students not only gain valuable hands-on experience and professional skills but also significantly improve their Japanese language proficiency. Moreover, the strong support from the university and corporate partners ensures a smooth and successful internship process.”
The business trip to Japan marks a significant step forward in UEF's internationalization strategy, creating new opportunities for UEFers and lecturers to engage with advanced education. The strengthened collaborations and close connections with Japanese partners are a testament to UEF’s ongoing commitment in improving academic quality. With this strong foundation, UEF continues to establish itself as a dynamic university, leading the way in preparing students for global integration.
