The “Cooking Class” activity took place in a lively and welcoming atmosphere, showcasing the culinary traditions of Huế's royal cuisine to international friends while strengthening the collaborative relationship between the two institutions.
The delegation was warmly welcomed by Dr. Ly Thien Trang, Director of Quality Assurance and Accreditation; Ms. Nguyen Lan Huong, Deputy Director of the International Relations & Project Management Department at HUTECH; and Mr. Nguyen Viet Thuy, Deputy Head of the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management. Also in attendance were culinary experts, including Mr. Nguyen Ho Tieu Anh, Master Chef Nguyen Lam Khang, and Mr. Ho Dac Thieu Anh, Deputy Director of the UNESCO Center for Vietnamese Culinary Culture. On behalf of the Polish delegation, participants included Prof. Dr. Anna Kalinowska-Zeleznik, Head of the Faculty of Economics, Dr. Anna Semnerling, Deputy Head of the Faculty of Economics, along with other members of their team.
The first dish introduced was a rose-shaped cake, a traditional Huế royal cuisine delicacy made from rice flour with a mixed filling. These cakes are meticulously crafted into rose shapes, symbolizing love and blessings of peace for everyone. This dish carries a profound cultural message of connection and sharing in life.
The next two royal cuisine dishes that excited the international guests were nem công (peacock-shaped spring rolls) and chả phượng (phoenix-shaped meat rolls), which were once served in the royal court of Huế. These dishes have been "reimagined" with modern ingredients while maintaining their traditional style, transformed and elegantly presented. Culinary artisans meticulously crafted visually stunning creations using ingredients such as pumpkin, carrot, and seaweed, delivering an artistic masterpiece in the form of culinary delights.
The “Cooking Class” was not only an opportunity to showcase Vietnamese cuisine but also left memorable experiences for the international delegation. This event marks a significant step in strengthening international collaboration between UEF and its foreign partners, paving the way for more cooperative opportunities in the future.
