UEF Student to Embark on SSEAYP 2024 as Vietnam Delegate

07/16/2024

Having numerous opportunities to study internationally at UEF helped the student confidently apply for the program

Hoang Phi shared that receiving high-quality learning experiences at UEF has become one of his key advantages in seizing this opportunity. To be selected, a delegate must meet all the rigorous requirements of the program. Not only do delegates have excellent language proficiency, but they also possess extensive knowledge of Vietnamese history, geography, politics, as well as ASEAN countries; a deep understanding of the activities and campaigns of Vietnamese youth; and a good health condition.

The curriculum of the Faculty of International Relations equips me with profound and in-depth knowledge of global and regional issues. I gain specialized knowledge of the history of human civilizations, and international and diplomatic organizations. This enables me to thoroughly understand the workings of multilateral regimes and the role of diplomacy in fostering international collaborations. After attending International Economics and International Commercial Law courses, I have a general understanding of global economic issues, free trade agreements, and the impacts of globalization. Furthermore, the cultural and sociological classes help enhance my cultural acumen and recognize current social issues. All of this knowledge and these valuable experiences support the development of my mindset, analytical abilities, and problem-solving skills. These have built a solid foundation, assisting me in actively contributing to many activities during the voyage, as well as in exchanging ideas and learning from delegates of other countries,” Hoang Phi said.

At UEF, Nguyen Hoang Phi consistently demonstrates his enthusiasm and boundless youthful energy. With his wealth of experience in participating in extracurricular activities and academics, he has become one of the top students in both his faculty and the school. All of these experiences have enriched his background and made him more self-assured as he joins this year's program. Some of the prominent programs he has participated in include: FORSEA: ASEAN Youth Career Summit (2021), Diplomacy Game (2021): Para Bellum which was organized by the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, the Model ASEAN Summit in Da Nang (2021), the Model ASEAN Summit EF (2021), and the Global Champion Camp 2020 by GPA, etc.

Through this opportunity to be an official delegate at the SSEAYP 2024, Hoang Phi desires to give a hand in spreading UEF students’ images to the young community, friends and citizens from ASEAN and the world.

The UEF students exemplify the typical Vietnamese young generation who are internationally minded, dynamic, and ambitious to grow. I will demonstrate my creative and flexible problem-solving skills through group activities, projects, and cultural exchanges. Additionally, I am eager to learn and exchange languages and cultures with international friends to foster mutual understanding. The most important qualities are confidence, initiative, and a strong sense of responsibility in every activity," Hoang Phi delivered.

“By introducing the beauty of Vietnam cultural traditions and modern features, I can contribute to promoting the image of our country and people”

A few years ago, UEFers had the opportunity to become Vietnamese youth delegates, who welcomed and participated in various activities during at the SSEAYP 2019. While working as the volunteers, students were able to gain new values, cultivate cultural knowledge, expand their vision and promote creativity. Also, they practiced and presented their impressive English proficiency as students from a bilingual university.

The Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Program (SSEAYP) is one of the oldest cultural exchange programs between Japan and ASEAN countries. The purpose of the program is to provide opportunities for young generations to expand their networks, experience different cultures, deepen their understanding of the history of other countries, and thus promote unity and harmony among the youth. In the 49th SSEAYP, selected delegates from ASEAN member countries and Japan will work and engage with each other aboard the Nippon Maru, departing from Japan. In the visited countries, the delegation will meet with government officials, interact with local youth, visit government offices, schools, and tourist attractions, and experience local life by staying with native families.

Becoming a delegate is not only an incredible opportunity for the student but also a great source of pride for UEF. We hope that Hoang Phi will have ample opportunities to showcase the abilities and knowledge he has gained at UEF. We believe that he will serve as a role model for UEFers, inspiring them to strive even harder in the future. Once again, UEF congratulates Nguyen Hoang Phi and the Faculty of International Relations on their remarkable global journey!
