SEPTEMBER 17, the Faculty of International Languages and Cultures, Japanese Language Programme at UEF, held a meeting with representatives from the Mitsubishi Research Institute. During the discussions, various collaboration initiatives were actively explored and proposed to enhance educational quality, broaden access, and provide opportunities for students to engage in professional projects.
Attendees at the meeting included Dr. Vo Van Thanh Than, Director of the UEF Center of Vietnam-Japan Human Resources Development and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Languages and International Cultures; Mr. Cao Do Quyen, Assistant in the Japanese Language Programme; Mr. Satoshi Nakamura, Research Director at Mitsubishi Research Institute; and Mr. Huynh Quoc Huy, an entrepreneur and lecturer.
The Mitsubishi Research Institute was founded in 1970 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Mitsubishi Group in Japan. Headquartered in Tokyo, Mitsubishi Research Institute currently brings together around 800 highly skilled researchers across various fields, particularly in natural sciences, specializing in advanced analysis and technical expertise. The mission of Mitsubishi Research Institute is to address societal challenges in Japan and globally through its team of expert consultants and ICT capabilities.
During the meeting, Mitsubishi Research Institute representatives provided detailed insights into the institute’s mission and ongoing projects, while also discussing potential collaborative initiatives with UEF in the near future. Some proposals highlighted by Mr. Satoshi Nakamura included sharing research on energy-efficient shrimp farming systems in UEF’s scientific journals and organizing academic seminars and workshops featuring speakers from the Mitsubishi Research Institute.
In response to the goodwill expressed by the partner representatives, UEF also conveyed its appreciation for this meeting. Dr. Vo Van Thanh Than, while recognizing the potential and quality of Mitsubishi Research Institute’s projects, presented various proposals to enable UEFers to learn from and contribute their skills to the Mitsubishi Research Institute’s initiatives.
It’s known that UEFers, especially those in the Japanese Language programme, frequently have opportunities to study and gain hands-on experience across advanced countries worldwide. Seizing these opportunities, many students have developed themselves, gained valuable experience, and become high-quality contributors to the workforce upon graduation. Continuing in this spirit, involvement in projects with the Mitsubishi Research Institute could be a new milestone, enriching UEFers’ growth journeys while allowing them to contribute their youthful energy to societal development. This partnership also provides a chance for UEFers to expand their network by connecting with peers from Kogakuin University and Kyushu University—institutions that are also collaborating with the Mitsubishi Research Institute.
The meeting also provided a comprehensive perspective on UEF. Through direct tours and detailed insights from university representatives, partners gained a deeper understanding of UEF's operations, development, and international orientation.
The upcoming collaborative initiatives will offer Japanese Language Programme students opportunities to observe, learn, and enrich their life skills. Combined with their passion and current abilities, this foundation will enable them to grow even further in the future.
