With the mission of "global integration - connecting five continents," UEF has consistently engaged in international exchange and cooperation activities. The university not only seeks opportunities for UEFers to "study abroad" and access the educational systems of other countries but also opens its doors to welcome students from around the world to engage in cultural exchange and learning.

SEPTEMBER 25, following the start of the 2024–2025 academic year, UEF welcomed five international students from Laos. This reflects UEF’s appeal as a reputable and reliable destination for international students.

UEF continues to be a trusted choice for Laotian international students

This time, the students will be studying two majors at UEF: International Law and International Relations. According to the university’s curriculum, all five Laotian students will participate in a bilingual program, offering them the chance to develop proficiency in both English and Vietnamese. Alongside their studies, they will have opportunities to engage in real-world learning through visits to businesses, participate in international exchange activities, and attend knowledge- and skills-sharing workshops at the university.

At UEF, cultural diversity is highly valued, creating a truly borderless learning environment. Here, students from around the world can connect, exchange ideas, and learn from one another. The Laotian students aim to improve their Vietnamese and English skills to maximize their understanding of course content. Additionally, they look forward to joining a variety of student activities to enjoy a vibrant and memorable university experience with UEF.

Phommady Saimany, majoring in International Relations, shared, “I feel very excited because Vietnam is truly fascinating, from its culture to its cuisine. When I received the news of my admission to UEF, I was thrilled, as I had already heard a lot about the university. To me, UEF is a modern environment that will provide many learning opportunities, helping me and other students grow and become more confident.”

Echoing this sentiment, new student Konmeuangsen Thiravath, majoring in International Law, added, “I learned about UEF from my roommate and researched more about it while still in preparatory school. I chose UEF because it offers many opportunities to pursue my dreams, and I also look forward to learning new languages.”

These reflections highlight how UEF’s international spirit has resonated with students from neighboring countries. With its diverse international education ecosystem, UEF enables students not only to study in a multilingual environment but also to grow and develop with a global perspective.

At the same time, beginning a new life and adapting to the education system in a different country has posed certain challenges for the students. However, with the dedicated support of Vietnamese friends and teachers, these international students have managed to overcome some of these obstacles, preparing them for their new academic journey. “As a Laotian international student, adapting to the study and living environment here was initially challenging,” shared Phenglasy Nilaphai, a new student majoring in International Law. “But the Vietnamese teachers are very friendly and always willing to help. Whenever I struggle with a lesson, they are there to assist and guide me through unexpected situations.”

UEF actively expands its partnerships with universities worldwide, offering students opportunities for exchange, learning, and participation in multinational educational programs. This attracts international students from neighboring countries and reinforces UEF’s position in the process of integration and development. International students like those from Laos are not only learners but also cultural ambassadors, helping to build a diverse and vibrant cultural learning environment at UEF.

Previously, UEF had also welcomed numerous Laotian international students. To date, 20 students have graduated, and 29 are currently studying at UEF in majors such as International Business, International Economics, Law, International Law, International Relations, and Tourism and Hospitality Management.

Aiming to become a leading bilingual and international university, UEF continually strives to improve and enhance its teaching quality, creating the best learning opportunities for both domestic and international students. The choice made by these five Laotian students reflects UEF’s reputation and quality, making it an increasingly ideal destination for students seeking to expand their knowledge, experience multicultural engagement, and develop themselves in a modern educational environment.
