With the aim of offering students, particularly those in the Korean Language Programme, an in-depth understanding of Korean arts and culture, UEF, in partnership with the Korean Cultural Center in Vietnam, inaugurated the K-POP Academy 2024 as a complimentary programme. The dance class officially commenced on the evening of September 17, drawing a significant number of students deeply passionate about art and dance.
The opening ceremony was attended by Ms. Pham Thi Thuy Linh, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Languages and International Cultures, Ms. Jung Sol, the dance instructor, and staff members from the Faculty of Languages and International Cultures and the Korean Cultural Center in Vietnam.
The K-POP Academy 2024 is part of the Korean Cultural Center’s annual program series in Vietnam. Students participating in the course will receive dance instruction from teachers from Korea. The program, lasting one month, is designed to help students master the basics of K-POP dance, giving them a deeper appreciation of Korea's contemporary dance art. Upon completing the course, students will have the opportunity to perform on the main stage of the Vietnam-Korea Friendship Cultural Festival, scheduled for the end of October 2024.
Before the first session, Ms. Jung Sol set the tone for the class, emphasizing the importance of dedication and diligence, as the students are tasked with opening and closing performances for a major event. She outlined specific guidelines regarding attire, behavior, and a proactive learning and practice mindset.
In order to prepare for the best possible performance, Ms. Jung Sol began with the first lesson immediately after her guidance. Students were grouped and started practicing under her attentive instruction. The class atmosphere was both enthusiastic and disciplined, with UEF students showing eagerness and determination to master each move smoothly and precisely. Those with a natural talent for dance, who quickly picked up and remembered the steps, also assisted their peers during practice.
